A work in progress and a long time coming!
Finally a little break in the weather, three days in a row...Winter flus and blues gone.... three little windows of opportunity... of rain free moments to finally let you all know who we are! Or some of who we are... lots more to discover and be discovered.... creativity is never stagnant... Just saying, my fab husband created this freehand .... no need for stencils or the like ... just a little bit of creative mapping out, and there we have it! Would love your feedback.... And please do come in for a nosey, and a chat...kettle is often boiling too.. ![]() ove Cottage today , not love dove studio . I have 3 creative spaces I can work from at home. One being the ubiquitous table, this is where I am in this photograph. I have another little nook with a very old favourite table, painted and distressed with plenty natural ageing and chips from down the years. Many things have been created at it. My current favourite thing to create at this little table are tiny clay pieces. It wouldn’t allow for much more. Oh! I forgot my lovely old bureau which has been painted and distressed to within an inch of its life. It belonged to my father and Grandfather before. They would be horrified to see the rich mahogany donning French style aged white...but then, this is my era. Today’s photograph captures the humble table. Photography not the best, but a record just the same. The pretty Ranunculas and Muscari won’t last much longer.... ![]() Here is a combination of the results of hands at work in our little gallery...which is at it’s happiest when having flowers and paint...and yes , even fading flowers. Sometimes my favourite expression of the Tulip, and particularly a ‘Parrot tulip’ such as ‘Rococo ‘ I love this fiery girl. If she were a dance , it would be the Tango! This is the time of day when the sun dances through the gallery window , casting beautiful shadows and shapes and some very interesting light... I like the way the light has picked up the burnt orangey tones in the painting echoing the vibrant tones of the tulips. And the wispy wistfulness of the Acacia captures my imagination and transports me to the South of France where the sweet smell of Mimosa is in the air... and delicate yellow confetti dusting the streets... ![]() e Dove Studio is our Studio gallery in Lochgilphead, Argyll, Scotland. We are both artists living in nearby Kilmartin. Gill is also a floral designer who works all over Scotland creating florals for weddings and special events. Wanting to work a little closer to home these days, we decided to open Love Dove Studio where we will have space to paint and opportunity to welcome people into this creative space which also supports local artists/ artisans of a high standard from the surrounding area. Creative workshops are also a passion. This is something we hope to pursue and grow during 2019, and already we have had some fabulous wreath-making workshops during December. Dates for a Spring floral workshop to be announced soon! Also painting workshops. Love Dove Studio is also linked to Homestyle Argyll. Kate MacDonald of Needlesmiths had the original concept for Homestyle and it now consists of Kate, Kirsty of A Touch of Glass Studio and Gill of Love Dove Studio. We have had great fun with the pop up events at Smithy House and other places too. With Love Dove Studio we can offer our customers somewhere to find us all year round. We look forward to welcoming you here if you have not already found us... We are opposite The Square Peg and next to The Sweetie Jar in Colchester Square, Lochgilphead. Opening hours 10.00am until 5.00pm (Winter hours) Closed Tuesday afternoons from 1.30pm due to previous commitments. |
